Meet the Staff

We are all excited to teach Mathematics to middle school students

using a hands-on approach and through real life

applications to get students excited as well.

Dr. Shelly M. Jones

CCSU Professor

Dr. Jones teaches mathematics education at Central Connecticut State University. She has taught at CCSU for 12 years and was a middle school teacher before coming to CCSU. Dr. Jones loves working with students who are studying to become elementary school teachers. She also enjoys working with practicing teachers who are learning how to make math more relevant for their students at all grade levels.

Noriko Gordon

Educator, Program Volunteer

Taught Geogebra, Origami, and Math Puzzles.

Dunn Pearson

Award-Winning Musician, Guest Speaker

Mr. Pearson and Dr. Jones co-taught a full day on connecting mathematics and music. Their long-time collaboration includes sessions at CCSU's Campy-on-Campus, ATOMIC Conference, NCTM Conference, and classroom research connecting music and fractions. Their article, Music: Inspiring Children to Learn Mathematics was featured in General Music Today
